Unusual bread recipes
Mr D asks if anyone has any unusual bread recipes they would like to share (he's in a bread making mood!) He especially says does anyone know if you can put parsnips into bread?

Re: Unusual bread recipes
Well, I would think if you treated them like potato in bread recipes, why not? ie mashed or cooked and grated....

Re: Unusual bread recipes
I quite like the seeds on top of bread, rather than in it - I prefer the nutty roasted taste to the more earthy flavour you get if they are baked in.
I've been having trouble with my breadmaker recently - loaves sinking in the middle and having a cake-like texture. I presumed it was the flour - last time I had this problem it was, and because I normally use Waitrose home brand, you don't really know where they source it from. So I've switched flour, but at the same time I noticed that my scales were broken - so although today's loaf was better, I don't knoe whether it was the flour or the scales !

Re: Unusual bread recipes
heres another one to try its called puffballs and it is a recipe handed down
from my mums french grandfather.
take some self raising flour and half fill a 2 litre measuring jug
put one egg in and mix together
add water a little at a time until you have made a stiff mixture
(if the mixture becomes too sloppy just add more flower)
take a frying pan and heat some oil does not matter which kind you use
once the pan is quite hot take a dessert spoon and take some mixture
place in the pan you may also need a knife to get it off the spoon
you can fill the pan up as long as you have room in between them
you may have to put a little more oil in for time to time
make sure you fry on all sides until they have a golden brown colour
they will increase in size .they are good with marmite (yeast extract) or jam
peanut butter or anything else you may like to try
