Forum on the move?? Empty Forum on the move??

Post by Adrian 3rd December 2009, 1:43 pm

I am looking to buy a domain name and move the forum onto a new host - this will make having things like the market place and the bookstore easier for me to set up and manage.

Now I have a couple of options on the domain - but one that is appealing is to have a small change in the forum name - to change it to Homemade Life and buy the .com domain.

It appeals to me as I want to keep the forum international in appeal and develop it further here in Canada and our neighbour to the South aswell as develop it more for the Uk and Europe.

I guess what I am asking is - are you, the members, happy with a small name change?

As long as I can still access and won't be locked out or something, I am easy,
whatever the name tag says on the entry door.

Fine with me. But why a .com name? Doesn't this qualify as a .org?

Mind I'm not sure about how normally done in Canada and the first one that came to mind for me to check is a .net address (sorry, but I don't consciously think "where" is that site located so off hand can't think of others I could check).

I have decided on .com rather than .info or .net or .org for good reason.

I intend to introduce a market stand and selected advertising (small producers/ cottage industries, not Walmart) at some point, in order to help the forum pay its way in terms of hosting cost and other costs.

At the moment forum costs are met by my partner, without his support, this forum would not exist.
