I don't know if you experience the same, but whenever I let (non-green/non-foodie) friends try my dried fruit, vegetables and fruit leathers... they get all a funny ideas such as making some themselves, buying a food drier, asking me to sell my goods.... Not that they ever actually get around to putting any action towards their words.

Is this just their way of being polite?

Here is oz we kind of have a saying that there are "doers" and there are "a gonnas"

Meaning there are always people that just "do" stuff.

Then there are the people that are always " i'm gonna do this, or that" but they always just talk about it and never actually "do" any of it.

I love the reactions of people who see our larder and then drop hints that they would like me to give them stuff.

that's sneaky, Badger! I don't mind bartering but expecting you to gift them with your hard work... they've lost their values!

Talking about those people who suddenly decide they'll make fruit leather as a healthy snack: one example is one of those who live on ready made meals and discount pizza deals even though he's got health issues that make him have to control his food intake. He refuses to eat vegetable crisps as they are not crisps... So it took all my strength to not fall about laughing when he was asking all about how to make fruit leather for a healthy snack.

We get quite a few weird reactions when people come round to our house.

A young chap came to the door canvassing for some 'Save the animals' charity a little while ago. I happened to be butchering a deer at the time and when i answered the door had a big knife in one hand and a lot of blood over me. His reactions was weird.

When the children have their friends round we often forget that not all kids are used to animal carcasses hanging outside the back door.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

I think I was innoculated from a young age, with parents hanging pheasants, rabbits etc stuff out. I kinda had a problem with making friend whilst at primary school, due to my hanging any dead animal from a tree outside the back door, gathering the resulting maggots and feeding the birds.... Cool Laughing not everyone's cuppa tea apprently.. Rolling Eyes

Same here re giving stuff away, people are mostly surprised by how nice homemade wine is, and I ain't giving that away!!! Evil or Very Mad Wink
