Last night I took a look at what surely must be the ultimate frugal cookery method - solar cooking - on the rather excellent Greek-Recipe.com website. The DIY method using cardboard boxes, tinfoil etc appeals to me.

Anyone tried it ? I know it is a strange time of year (here in the UK at least) to be asking ... But talking of timing, one of the drawbacks I see is that slow, long cooking one pot meals appeal to me most in winter, not mid summer when the sun is shining ! But maybe I could get used to it.

I haven't tried it, have to admit that I am intrigued - I once looked at covering an old parabolic dish with mirror tiles (our old satellite dish) to experiment with solar cooking - never happened though Very Happy
