What a book, it took me back to my growing up years. Her descriptions of the Lake District just get better, & the daily life of a very ordinary housewife in that era is excellant. I would think she will rate as one of the best diaryists of all time.
I really enjoyed this as well, as I did the other two books

Me too, on the read again shelf as far as I am concerned, I can see her little saucepans by the fire, & her picnics by the lakes not to mention the thermos that she always take.
My mother wouldhave been a few years younger, but the similarities just transport me back to my own childhood with such warmth & familiarity.

Re: BOOK REVIEWS
Well just finished my latest Clive Cussler book, I do love his books so much.
Plague Ship
Very exciting as usual with the bits & pieces of information that make his books so good.
In case anyone is wondering, I usually flog them on fleabay & get my money back.

Re: BOOK REVIEWS
Reading week this week,. A new Clive Cussler, what a suprise.SPARTAN GOLD, slightly different from the usual books, a new set of characters to get used to. Exciting adventure as usual & a potted history of Napoleon in Europe as well.
Other book was THE ENEMY by Desmond Bagley, exciting book. A change for me but I really enjoyed them both.
