Today I'm doing things with damsons.
I'm doing damson jam (essential), spiced damson chutney and freezing the rest to possibly keep fir next year's plum mincemeat - I thought damsons might give it a different flavour from Victoria plums.
I haven't had big crops of plums or damsons this year but the fruit has been perfect. It shows up what problems are usually caused by our excessively wet conditions. I didn't water anything outside during the prolonged hot spell and the only thing I lost was the blueberries but they did get a bit of late fruit.
