What arts and craft things have you been making lately?
I thought that we already had a thread like this to show off creations - anyway, here it is now.
So, What arts and craft things have you been making lately?

I've just discovered gloves - well, I've actually known about gloves for a while now, I've just found out how much I like knitting them. These are the pair I've just finished - my two daughters have put in orders so I'll be busy! They're made in Sirdar Crofter, which is random dyed to make the knitting look like fair isle.

Sorry -it's a bit fuzzy. I was rushing to get it done because I'm just about to take the guinea pig to the vet, so I didn't put my glasses on to take the photo!

Those are lovely gloves Dandelion. I'm still knitting socks - about to finish a pair as a surprise gift for a friend who is feeling the cold since he started taking Warfarin.
I'll try and take some pictures some time

What kind of wool are you using JG?

Re: What arts and craft things have you been making lately?
Mostly I use Regia 4ply, I have some Opel and some very expensive stuff I bought in I-knit in Waterloo. I've just taken Mr JG in there today to get some really short wooden needles for knitting socks - I got him some Regia 6ply in John Lewis's sale.
The expensive stuff is pure wool, but seems as durable as the 75% wool 25% polyamide Regia or Opel stuff - though I have put my toe through 2 socks, one of which was a pure wool one, I think the other was a blend.

Re: What arts and craft things have you been making lately?
My mother told me that when she first got married in the early 1950s, she spent ages knitting my father a pair of socks in pure wool. The first time he wore them he made an enormous hole in them, and that was the last pair of socks she ever knitted!!
She is still knitting at the age of 88 - she has started making squares for knit-a-square.

Its just about varying the width of the line to suggest features - I use vintage photographs as a base for the image, make a sketch and scapel cut the paper
Re: What arts and craft things have you been making lately?
Its not a great photo, these look better in the clear frames and I am waiting for the new battery to arrive for my digital SLR
Re: What arts and craft things have you been making lately?
Gloves for DD2 just finished. More fiddly because of the cuffs and buttons, which meant that I put off finishing them until I knew the recipient was coming home and they needed to be done!
Pair number three under construction....

Thank you! I've enjoyed learning to make gloves as they're more interesting than hot water bottle covers

Ohhh DD they are fabulous.
Could I commission some from you????? My knitting is still far too basic to even attempt anything more than fingerless mittens. I can get wool and send it to you??? Lucy, my DD has been after something like this for ages but can't find anything she likes

Re: What arts and craft things have you been making lately?
Look what I made!! The best part is that it is crocheted from some of last weekend's booty that was destined for the council tip. I found a really good pattern on t'internet, and lo, I have a shopping bag. Even better is the fact that it wasn't even a nice ball of yarn. It was a huge horrible tangle that I was tempted to throw away - but there was so much of it, I thought if I could just sort it out I could do something useful with it. It took a few hours over a couple of evenings to unravel it all, and the bag has used about 2/3 of it. I'm as chuffed as a chuffed thing.

Re: What arts and craft things have you been making lately?
My current project is sewing a leather case for my air rifle, that I bought from a bloke in a pub, & Pol carried through town on a Monday night after closing about a year ago...
Have it cut & stitched together, am in the middle of waxing it, & just working out how I want it to close.
