Need some decorations for the tree?

Take 2 identical gift tags & stick them together back to back, thread the tinsel through the holes & tie in a loop. Add extra decorations or glitter, result new & easy decorations for the tree.

If the tags are ones that open, either cut off the back or stick them together.

Our youngest is lactose intolerant, and it was a challenge to make sure she didn't feel left out at Christmas with so much chocolate around. I made a set of little felt stockings for the tree, and every year the children would fill them with dairy free sweets (and mentally note which had the most in....!) One advantage was that they could be refilled if visiting children came.

Salt dough is good for making Christmas tree decorations. Use 2 cups of plain flour and 1 cup of table salt and gradually add 1 cup of water, mixing to soft dough. Now roll out and cut out your decorations (use biscuit cutters if you want), remembering to put a hole in the top for the ribbon. You can also add gems etc before leaving for 48 hours to dry. Once they have dried you can paint and varnish them as you please =)
Also, if you have an airing cupboard you can dry them in there to save time.

Polly, I do those too with the kids. Also use one consisting of a cup each of ground cinnamon and apple sauce and half cup of glue (may have the proportions somewhat off, always play with it a bit after the first batch). And yes, don't forget the hole for ribbons, otherwise you'll be getting out the masonry drill!! I think I like the cinnamon ones best, as they smell fab. Will for a couple of years too, if you seal them up snuggly after you take them down. For an added bit of spice, play around with adding other spices as well, clove, anice, allspice, whatever that (horrid) stuff is that makes black liccorice, lol.

Unflavoured popcorn threaded together is good. For added decoration, a quick spray with glue & a sprinkle of glitter. If you leave it plain it can out for the birds afterwards.
