Re: whats on the menu
We were home late an tired but have a lot of vegetables - Abel and Cole delivered yesterday and my dad had some excess so we HAD to eat veg for supper although cooking a bowl of pasta and stirring in a jar of pesto and some grated Parmesan seemed easiest.
So we still cooked the pasta but stir fried a variety of veg, added a little soy sauce and very nice it was too.

Ah the bones were just for the stock, cooked till the stock had really reduced & put in the fridge to take the fat off, the stock was just about solid, but it did make a lovely veggie soup.

Re: whats on the menu
I am having a bit of a freezer clearout as well. Found 16kg of pork mince which I had forgotten about so am making that into avrious types of salami. Made some deangerous venison salami with chipotles this morning and a batch of cumberland sausage for a friend out of the forelegs of his pig. Also put another couple of haunches of venison into drycure for smoking next week, this time with a caraway and juniper cure, and set up some more jowls for guanciale and rinsed the last batch of guanciale to go in the smoker for a couple of days.
Still need to creat more freezer space. We have 5 freezers now and not an inch of space in any of them. We clearly need to eat more meat.

And on the subject of chipotles - last night it was Albóndigas a la Mexicana - this a link to the Cool Chile company's recipe. I used pork for my meatballs, which had a nice texture.

Put a whole loin of Pork and two wild ducks, cured overnight in Rhombo-rub, into the hot smoker this morning. 10 hours later they are nearing perfection.
Re: whats on the menu
Today will be cottage pie, put in the freezer last Saturday so I could concentrate on recovering from the trip.

Parsnip and apple soup (from a BBC recipe I found - Mr D doesn't like curry, so I wanted a recipe which wasn't spicy.) I found two little homemade loaves in the freezer which Mr D had made ages ago so we had those too.

Fish & chips for lunch. Freezer oddments for tea remains of a chicken curry for OH & I have cottage pie remains.
Must say feeling poorly certainly clears the freezers a bit & shows what a good idea it is to have lots & bits & pieces in them.

Made 4 steak pies & 2 chicken, ham & mushroom pies, so that means 5 freezer pies & 1 for today. With the leftover pastry scraps made some jam tarts.
