What have you done in the greenhouse/polytunnel today?
Greenhouse here means any undercover growing method , so windowsills, propagators, cloches etc etc ..
Same principle as the threads in other bits of the Permaculture garden...just tell us what you have been up to recently with seeds and plants under cover of.. well.... covers

Re: What have you done in the greenhouse/polytunnel today?
I've re-potted some small tomato plants.
I've also put in a few cuttings of carnations that I took off some stems that my DW got the other week.

Re: What have you done in the greenhouse/polytunnel today?
I've realised that I need to ask Mr D to remove his patent icicle protector from the porch roof (i.e. the piece of wood which is wedged onto the polycarbonate to stop the two foot long icicles crashing through it in January). It's cutting out the light which my (potential) seedlings need!

Uh, checked & watered over wintering cuttings of budleia, holly, bay, hawthorn plants
checked & watered bare root fruit plants
checked & watered over wintering rosemary, thyme, parsley
rescued & replanted 2 x strawberry runners from grey mould
watered pea & broad bean tubes...
Took down net curtain shading to put through the washing machine when Lady S isn't looking...

Re: What have you done in the greenhouse/polytunnel today?
Grr I wrote a long list , and then lost it.
I have done lots in there today. And will do more of the same tomorrow.
Mostly involving sowing seeds and getting them into the heated propogators in the porch.
Or sowing them into the tubes I filled up today ( now have 105 of them , waiting.)
Nuff said.

I don't want to start a new 'what should I have done in the greenhouse today' thread, but I am wishing I had started to save toilet roll middles sooner - I've been in 'winter mode', starting the log burner with them!

Re: What have you done in the greenhouse/polytunnel today?
I've been out in the greenhouse today and have sown 8 different tyes of tomato, 2 types of peppers and some basil. In the salad bed outside I've sown 2 types of spring onions, baby spinach, radishes, mixed salad leaves and rocket, all nicely snuggled under the mini polytunnel/cloche
Feels great to be out doing stuff again.
Hoping for a dry day tomorrow so I can get down to the allotment and make plans for bigger polytunnel

Oop North looked OK on the weather map last night - I think us Midlanders and the Southerners are in for a soaking tomorrow!

Re: What have you done in the greenhouse/polytunnel today?
I make my paper pots round the bottom of a bottle, much cheaper than the ready made makers.

Re: What have you done in the greenhouse/polytunnel today?
I have more that has survived & is growing.
I planted peas in October (in a Pot) & they have flower buds on
The garlic in a pot is about 6ins tall.
Broads that I started in Oct in the greenhouse (in a pot) were put outside & have just about survived.
The salad leaves that I put in (in pot) are pickable
Potted carrots have gone mad.
As you have realised all of mine is in pots!!

I ran an extention lead into the greenhouse, checked deckchair was in working order,
(& coffee mug), & listened to football for 2 hours...
Oh,
I mean I did some planting, transplanting & trimming...

Re: What have you done in the greenhouse/polytunnel today?
Finally got round to sowing some seeds in the polytunnel - brassicas, lettuce, various japanese greens, leeks and spring onions. Will check the weather forecast and then decide whether to start on the tender stuff.
Re: What have you done in the greenhouse/polytunnel today?
I've sorted out some cuttings off some carnations that my DW brought 2 weeks ago,
I've also potted on some tomatoes and planted some pepper seeds as well as sowing some broadbeans in the raised beds in the garden.
oh and some onions went in yesterday.
