Home made quiche ( home grown eggs, spinach and onion as well...) spuds, beans, toms, cucumber and herbs
the only stuff not home grown was the milk, the flour and the butter.

Re: whats on the menu
Sauted home grown cougettes, sauted spuds (cooked yesterday ), cauli, honey mustard sausage from prize winning Waller and Sons in Ledbury, organic mushrooms from down the road in a load of tunnels , and the spent compost is incredible!!
Tomorro lunch will be home made bread and soup made from all the home grown veg left in the freezer, as we are now in to this year's toms, beans, courgettes, peppers, onions, garlic etc etc and I need the space to preserve them.

Today fish & chips, bought fish but my own chips.
Experimenting with blood sugars as last time I had bought ones the sugars flew out of the window & I felt bad.
Tayberries to follow, while OH will have strawberries.

A sort of raspberry, but bigger and sweeter.

Todays dinner began life in a book as Canadian Casserole, is actually beef in condensed mushroom soup & really slow cook. I love the way it blends together & is one of those meals that I really love. With creamy pots & veg.

Re: whats on the menu
This should probably be on another thread, but tonight we had the first proper picking of courgettes, which I baked with a tomato, garlic and herb sauce (and cheese/breadcrumbs on the top). I also cooked all the tiny annoying new potatoes which I had put aside when I dug a row of spuds up - they only took ten minutes to cook. (You would probably pay extra in a restaurant for such weeny potatoes, but it takes ages to scrub them)

Re: whats on the menu
Today is Sunday lunch, roast beef etc.
Reason, a full concert tomorrow afternoon & playing on a full stomach is not a good idea, so for tea tomorrow cold beef & new potatoes etc.

Re: whats on the menu
Chicken, courgettes, spuds, beans, tomatoes and spinach.
All from my own garden or reared from an egg and killed by me at 6 months old.
Am quite proud of that last bit, yes in a slightly sad-ish sort of way because I killed an animal for meat BUT he had a damn good life and a very quick death, with as little stress as possible.

Made an Italian bean stew with skinned broad beans and smoked sausage which went down well. That's it for the broad beans now - the black fly have had 'em!

Re: whats on the menu
Roast shoulder of lamb, ( reduced in supermarket and cooked in daytime to take advantage of "free" PV generated electric!) , home grown spuds, skinned broad beans ( froze a load of tender ones today and skinned the bigger ones to eat tonight), broccoli, courgettes and peas.
mmmm I love this time of year, lots of different flavours from home grown veg!
Oh, and home made redcurrant jelly from last year! we have nearly run out and I have just picked this years crop

Freezer soup
Ie soup made from onion and garlic and olive oil, then stock and assorted home grown veg from freezer.
Today it was beef stock, and last years courgettes, purple giant climbing beans, tomatoes. Boiled and then simmered until it all fell to mostly bits.
Was vert nice and have several servings left. CG is eating some now, with a roll, for her tea.
