Crafting Today.
Well this is what I have been up to this afternoon. Couple of weeks ago I found a single fan earring & a brooch at a car boot & it struck me dolls house, so here are the results of a bit of tarting up with stickers & bits, result a fan for a lady & an ornament for the gents study.

Re: Crafting Today.
I work with 1/12th size, I do not see well enough to go much smaller, & it is the easiest to work to scale with, 1ins=1ft.
Thank you for saying they look nice, I was pleased.

Today I made another shopping bag. What I already have keep being taken for other permanant use.
Also made 5 net bags, one for my paint brushes & 4 for fruit & veg, so really pleased.

Do you mean the string bags we use to use for shopping? Great as back up bags as they can go in your pocket...

Re: Crafting Today.
No Zoe, I use net (as in curtains) or gauze remnants to make bags for veggies or fruit, as I use a a proper greengrocers shop.

made sprog's arm-warmers, he loves them and now wants a scarf but I'm not sure I've got enough yarn for it, may need to wait a bit.

If you have small bits of wool, why not a stripey one, or would he not accept that, understand if he wouldn`t but might be worth a try. tell him he is a mini Doctor Who!!

Hee! That was my thought but I only started crochet recently and only have the one kind of wool! I'll have to get something else and then I can do stripes.

Re: Crafting Today.
Have been given several commisions though! for both full size AND tiny
Am a bit stunned but not going to pass up any work...and as I said in the other thread I can knit and watch TV and feel virtuous about the TV watching!

Best way to do it CW, just do not take on too many orders or you will end up hating it, I did that & ended up feeling very sick each time I went to finish an order.
I now knit when I feel like it and watch the TV at the same time for the same reasons you gave.

Re: Crafting Today.
These are for Xmas Pol so time not an issue. I did the doll hat last night while watching Attenborough. It took me less than an hour...
Now I can read a pattern I am flying..I have always been a fast , accurate knitter...but was limited by only being able to knit squares....or scarfs..
Suddenly I can read a pattern and also now have the confidence to have also written my own...I wanted to alter a hat pattern so it was bigger ( I have a very big head - seriously so no comments about it please!!!) an so I altered the cast on and adjusted the decreasing for the crown...and it was no problem at all
I think I just needed all you lovely people to give me a bit on encouragement to actually think I *could * do it...
and so I can. My lovely Mum would have helped me in the same way you all have, but sadly was not able to.
Cm is pleased and slightly bemused by my fervour...he has never seen me as the type who knits...his mum was an ace knitter and he is really good as maintaining knitting machines, sewing machines etc etc because she was a Domestic Science ( amongst other stuff) teacher...and he did all the mechanical stuff for her from a very early ( 8 ish? ) age...
but he has never, in 27 years, seen me knit.............
He is actually rather pleased ...and Cg wants several different coloured hats....!
